U9 (6 v 0) Barnham trojans B - by ben langton

SIX OF THE BEST FOR XMAS!!!

after weeks of frustrtion and missed matches caused by the english weather finally a dry weekend in the calander. training had moved indoors for the under 9's to attempt to gain some momentum before the league match. plagued by illness and injuries on saturday the team was down to its bare bones and players had to play in positions and roles that were unfamiliar. all players accepting their part in the team and willing to work hard for each other. the match had a strange start with players from both teams struggling to stamp their authority on the game. it took an austen allen goal to settle the nerves after about 8 minutes, once the ball hit the back of the net a sence of relief ws visible in the team and the players started to relax and play the way we had been all seson. an excellent double from jack parkinson (1 a right foot rasper into the corner and the other a good individual goal cooley slotted away) gave him his 17th and 18th of the season. Barnham then had snap shot just inside the area which was brilliantly tipped over the bar from the injured stand in keeper alfie johnson. allen then added a powerful 4th just before the break. the second half played out much the same with all the players working hard for each other. aallen grabbed his hat-trick and all the players could have added to the score but the goals dried up a little with a combination of good goal keeping and poor finishing. a minute before th end will norris scrmbled home a 6th from a corner...much to delight of his dad!!
what was pleasing about the game was that the players had the desire and hunger to always wanna get on the ball and work hard for the team. no more evident then on this cold morning with lots of players struggling, we gave good account for team that hadnt played for 6 weeks. the best defence in the league have only conceded 2 goals all season, another clean sheet this time for alfie johnson!! (RMF)well played lads and happy xmas
MAN OF THE MATCH: ALFIE JOHNSON
