KNOCKED FOR SIX

It was 1st against 3rd on a rare sunny morning and the tempo was set early by Whyke United who created 2 good openings in the first 3 minutes of the game, and but for a brilliant save from the colts goalkeeper Jack Parkinson would have given the visitors the lead. It was however in the 4th minute that Ben Riding smashed in a shot from a tight angle to give Whyke the lead. 2 minutes later and Riding was at it again, this time a mazey run down the left and when it seemed easier to square the pass to matt macdonald he actually slipped his left foot shot under the keeper for 2-0. On 9 minutes the game was all but over as a long range effort from Parkinson caught a big deflection which wrong footed the keeper for 3-0. After the break Whyke came out looking for more goals, Parkinson duely obliged for 4-0 and a cross/ come shot from Alfie Johnson nestled in the corner due to some excellent pressure from Austen Allen on the goalkeeper. A cross from Johnson almost gave Matthew Langton his first goal but the keeper denied him and the goalmouth scramble that followed almost gave birthday boy Milo Tite a goal. Parkinson added the 6th and his 3rd 2 minutes from time and the victory was complete. Another fine performance from the defence saw another clean sheet for Will Norris and Josh Huggett added some bolster at the back after being injured last time out. Whyke outplayed and outpassed their opposition today, picking up where they left off last week and now have the championship in sight.
man of the match: Ben Riding
